Of interest to people living in Ontario:  the original work on genetic polymorphisms was done at the University of Toronto with research funding that was depleted, and never renewed.  The research was considered a tremendous advance at the time both with respect to potential biomarkers and with respect to understanding mechanisms of illness and potential treatment, this is important work.
